Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was Eisenstein's first feature film, made when he was just 27. He was hired by the Soviet government specifically to create propaganda celebrating the 1905 revolution.
The 'Odessa Steps' sequence in Battleship Potemkin gets all the glory, but Strike's factory-to-massacre montage established the same techniques two years earlier. Film students just prefer stairs I guess.
