Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Slovenian cinema rarely exports its noir tradition; Osterberg represents a regional attempt to graft American genre conventions onto post-Yugoslav anxieties about corruption and community silence.
Director Matej Nahtigal shot several scenes in his actual hometown, casting locals as extras—meaning the blank stares Osterberg receives were often genuinely unfamiliar faces.
