Two call centre drones, three chords, and the dream of indie glory — what could go wrong?
Ian Bonar is Stevie, a wannabe musician whose look is a hybrid of Jarvis Cocker and early Elvis Costello. Working with his drummer pal Neil (Matthew Baynton) in a call centre, they dream of breaking into the indie music scene. To do this they require additional band members. Step forward the driven (and drinking) guitarist Billy (Kieran Bew) and slightly scatty bassist Emily (Lyndsey Marshal), who has a sideline in making sculpture from hair.
Acting
Ian Bonar's physical comedy — all elbows and desperation.
Writing
Dialogue that actually sounds like real people failing at art.
Director
Giles Borg
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Director Giles Borg shot this in just 18 days on a shoestring budget, casting many unknown stage actors.
The film captures the specific mid-2000s UK indie boom when every town had a Libertines tribute act and MySpace was king.
