Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Will Sampson was fresh off 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and reportedly took this role specifically because Sam Watchman wasn't written as mystical or silent—just capable.
This was a backdoor pilot for a series that NBC never picked up; the 'Relentless' title was meant to become Sam Watchman's brand.
