Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Spike Milligan improvised most of his scenes, supposedly annoying director Waddington who wanted tighter control.
This was one of several 1970s UK-Australia co-productions capitalizing on the 'convict origin story' trend, though it oddly sanitizes the brutal reality of transportation.
