Acting
Hopkins' Bligh is somehow sympathetic AND despicable. Magic.

Actual Tahiti locations — no green screen, just pure turquoise thirst.
Production
Full-scale ship replica that nearly killed the budget AND the crew.

Director
Roger Donaldson
Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was the FIFTH film adaptation of the Bounty mutiny. Orson Welles narrates the prologue, presumably because someone owed someone a favor.
The 1984 version was specifically made to 'correct' 1962's Mutiny on the Bounty, which presented Bligh as a sadist cartoon. Historians still argue about which film lies better.
