Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Marko Zaror and Ernesto Díaz Espinoza were childhood friends who made this for under $100,000 after Zaror couldn't get stunt work in Hollywood. The 'Kiltro' name comes from a Chilean street dog breed—meant to reflect Zamir's stray-dog loyalty.
This film essentially created the Chilean martial arts genre from scratch. Espinoza later admitted the toxic romance plot aged terribly, but stands by it as 'what two dumb 20-somethings thought was cool in 2006.'
