Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
George Pal invented the Puppetoon technique: thousands of hand-carved wooden puppets shot frame-by-frame, each slightly different.
This was Dr. Seuss's first screen adaptation; Pal had to fight to keep Seuss's surreal visual language instead of Disney-fying it.
