Video geek Shep uncovers a 135 year old videotape on which mad scientist Artemis Winthrop displays a machine he's invented, which he believes can bridge dimensions. With his buddies, Shep tracks down the machine despite warnings of Winthrop's great-granddaughter, a wiccan named Amelia. Shep restores the machine and while video taping it in action, a horrible accident transforms him into the ultimate tapehead (while unleashing killer bugs from another dimension and a few walking corpses along the way).

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Director Brett Piper built his reputation on no-budget creature features, often handling effects himself. This was shot on actual video to sell the 'found footage' aesthetic before it was trendy.
The 1.8 TMDB rating makes this a cult curiosity—fans of Piper's work defend its earnest DIY spirit against the algorithm. It's essentially outsider art that accidentally became horror canon for VHS collectors.
