Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was Chris Stearns' only feature directorial credit; he later became a prolific commercial director in the Boston area.
Shot on location in Massachusetts, the film captures a specific late-90s indie boom moment where any friend group with a camera could make a rom-com. The grandparents/inheritance plot reflects anxiety about being trapped by family obligation just as indie culture celebrated rootlessness.
