Deep Dive

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes

Trivia

Filmed between series 3 and 4, this was the cast's first time working in color — they found it 'terribly strange.'

Cultural

The film's release in 1971 coincided with genuine nostalgia for WWII 'Blitz spirit' as Britain faced economic crisis — the bumbling heroes felt weirdly reassuring.

The best ensemble cast ever assembled for a TV comedy. All gone now.

@TillyOrifice 36

R.I.P. Ian Lavender, the last surviving cast member, who died a few days ago.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate how beautifully crisp and clear this is visually?
