Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Real Willie Morris died months before filming; his widow insisted the movie be made. The actual Skip is buried in Yazoo City with a headstone tourists still visit.
This quietly launched the 'sad dog movie' boom of the 2000s—Marley, Hachi, A Dog's Purpose all owe Skip their tear-stained existence.

This trailer makes you think that this is a happy movie but.. it one of the saddest movies ever, when I was a kid I was not prepared for this.

I remember I was like 5 or 6 when I saw this movie. This was the first movie I cried in and I remember being nearly inconsolable at the end.
