Kevin Bacon paid for his own dance double's scenes to be cut so he could do the warehouse sequence himself. He also used so much anger that he injured himself kicking the beam.
Based loosely on real events in Elmore City, Oklahoma, which banned dancing until 1980. The actual town vote was way less dramatic—no angry warehouse dancing required.
