Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Lermontov's fatal 1841 duel is Russia's literary trauma—every schoolkid knows he died at 26, making this basically Russian 'Back to the Future' with homework.
Petrov and Vasechkin first appeared in 1980s Soviet TV films; this 2020s revival has the original actors' sons playing the leads, which is either sweet or cursed depending on your feelings about legacy.
