A small-town teacher prays to space for a miracle — and the universe actually answers, awkwardly.
Tatyana Viktorovna Gizatullina is an English teacher from the city of Bugulma, where everything seems to be forever stuck between the past and the future. After a series of failures, she desperately turns to space with a request for a miracle - and suddenly the news spreads around the city: the first Bugulma cosmonaut Sergey Lysov, her classmate, is returning home after 25 years. This event sets off a chain of incredible changes in the life of Tatyana and the entire school.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Bugulma is a real Tatarstan city famous for being 'the middle of nowhere' — the directors weaponize this geography as existential condition.
The 'cosmonaut as local hero' trope directly references Soviet-era mythmaking, but here the hero returns broken and the myth collapses upward.
