Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was ECW's first pay-per-view after securing a national cable deal, making it a make-or-break moment for hardcore wrestling's mainstream legitimacy. Paul Heyman financed it through sheer chaos and unpaid invoices.
The Odeum in Villa Park was so notoriously unsafe that wrestlers later joked about checking for structural integrity before spots. Mike Awesome's 350-pound frame launching off balconies didn't help.
