Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
This was Karl Urban's first feature film role, filmed while he was still a drama student in Wellington.
The 1990 film is one of few cinematic depictions of the disastrous August Offensive, where New Zealanders briefly held Chunuk Bair before being relieved by British troops who immediately lost it — a national wound still debated.
