Thurston Moore goes feral in 12 minutes of 1991 chaos — rabbit suit included.
Thurston on a bender. Shot one day during a break on the Ragged Glory Tour. Hip Hopped-up NYC roadie Maurice Menares plays the psychotic sidekick/bunny. Offensively endearing, in the face of P.E., N.W.A., REM, and Desert Storm. Chance occurrence of fire, predating the LA riots. Stopping at yard sales, ended up on Venice beach. By the end of the day, I went nuts. Keep in mind, this was at a time when "Rico Suave" by Gerrardo was in heavy rotation.
Practical Effects
That fire? Actually happened. No permits.
Costume
Maurice's bunny suit commitment is unhinged.
Direction
Markey's guerrilla Venice Beach shooting.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Shot during the Ragged Glory Tour, this captures Sonic Youth at their peak 'we're too famous for our own good' energy—right before 'Dirty' made them MTV darlings.
The 'Rico Suave' detail in Markey's notes isn't random—Gerardo was literally charting when they filmed, and the timestamp matters more than you'd think.
