The movie tells the story of Ding Jian, the Fusi of North Town, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. While investigating the theft of firearms, his wife Su Qing was kidnapped by bandits. Ding Jian was forced to assassinate the third prince. But his wife died in vain, and he himself became a rebel. In order to take revenge and solve the mystery, he and his friend Li Jin Zhong uncovered the truth step by step, but unexpectedly he was just a pawn.
