Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
The Ural setting evokes Russia's 'zone of alienation'—places where Soviet collapse left spiritual vacuum that UFO cults historically filled.
Director Sosnin cast actual villagers; the mockery Lyosha endures mirrors their real reactions to the character's eccentricities during shooting.
