Ted Lindsay himself consulted on the script and reportedly cried watching dailies. The real Red Wings boycotted his Hall of Fame induction in 1966 over this labor war — he wasn't inducted until 1998.
This was made for Canadian TV in 1995, right as the 1994-95 NHL lockout was devastating fans — the timing was almost too on-the-nose.
