Wealthy, powerful and influential Seth Dharamdas is known to come to the aid of all people who are poor, and this leads to him being known as Dharmatma. However, he also has a parallel life as a gangster. The only person Dharamdas hates and fears is none other than his very own son, Ranbir, who has sworn that he will never compromise with his father's dark career, and threatens to expose him.

Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Feroz Khan filmed extensively in Afghanistan and South Africa when Indian locations were considered 'too familiar'—making this one of Bollywood's earliest globetrotting productions.
The film's 'noble criminal' archetype directly influenced the 'Vijay' template that defined Amitabh Bachchan's 70s stardom—though Feroz Khan clearly believed he wore the white suit better.
