Trivia, insights & behind the scenes
Poliziotteschi films exploded in 70s Italy as a response to real Red Brigade violence and public distrust of corrupt institutions. They let audiences cheer for cops who broke rules because the system was broken.
Marcel Bozzuffi, playing Grifi, was already famous from The French Connection. He reportedly did many stunts himself, partly because the production couldn't afford proper doubles for the entire squad.
